Itsukushima Shrine

Itsukushima Shrine stands on stilts over a tidal inlet on Miyajima, its halls and the vermilion torii offshore appearing to float only at high tide — at low tide visitors walk out across the mudflat instead, so it is worth checking a tide table before going.
