The easternmost point of Hokkaido, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Okhotsk and Japan's earliest sunrise is visible. The cape's lighthouse (Japan's oldest in eastern Hokkaido) looks out toward the disputed Habomai Islands, just a few kilometers offshore.
