A pair of sacred 'married rocks' (meoto-iwa) standing about 150m offshore on the Itoshima coast, joined by a giant shimenawa rope and fronted by a snow-white torii gate built in 1968. Recognised among Japan's Top 100 Beaches and Top 100 Sunset Views, it is Itoshima's signature seascape — and around the spring and autumn equinoxes the setting sun drops precisely between the two rocks, framed by the torii.
