Daikanbo Observation Deck (Tateyama)

大観峰

Toyama · Chubu

Daikanbo is a cliff-edge station at 2,316 m whose rooftop 'Cloud Terrace' hangs out over the void above Kurobe Lake. It looks across the emerald reservoir to the Ushiro-Tateyama range and is the upper terminus of the Tateyama Ropeway, which spans the valley with no support towers. In autumn the slopes below blaze with red and gold foliage.

Why we picked it

The station building has no ground-level exit, so this dramatic viewpoint exists only for those already riding the mountain-crossing route.
