Joetsu Kokusai Ski Resort
上越国際スキー場Niigata · Chubu
One of the largest ski areas in Japan by footprint, 22 courses and 19 lifts spread over a long, low mountain in Minamiuonuma, with its own Joetsu-Kokusai-Skijo-mae station right at the base — you step off the train onto the snow. The terrain is mostly gentle and wide, and the resort is built for beginners, families and school parties rather than steeps.
