Nita Pass & Unzen Ropeway

仁田峠・雲仙ロープウェイ

Nagasaki · Kyushu

A scenic mountain pass on Mount Unzen where a 3-minute cable car climbs 174m from Nita-toge Station to Myokendake Station, giving panoramic views over the Shimabara Peninsula, the Ariake Sea, and the lava dome of Heisei-Shinzan.

Why we picked it

Most Nagasaki visitors never make it up the mountain from the coast, so the ropeway and its azalea-covered slopes stay far less crowded than the hells or castle towns below.
