Iizaka Onsen
飯坂温泉Fukushima · Tohoku
One of Japan's oldest hot spring towns (2,000+ year legendary origin, historically one of the three ancient hot springs of Ōshū alongside Naruko and Akiu). Nine public bathhouses remain active, including Sabako-yu, visited by Matsuo Bashō in 1689 and still one of Japan's oldest working community baths.
