A 10km gorge along the Tamagawa River between Lake Tazawa and Kakunodate, nicknamed 'the Yabakei of Tohoku' for its turquoise water, primeval forest, and the arched Kami-no-iwahashi suspension bridge. A riverside trail passes Mikaeri Falls and rock formations like Miko-ishi. Best timed for late April-May (fresh green) or late Oct-early Nov (autumn foliage).
