Zentokuji is a Jodo Shinshu branch temple that forms the core of the old town of Johana in Nanto, with a walled compound of halls, gates and reception rooms rather than a single building. The main hall, gate, bell tower and drum tower are all prefecturally designated cultural properties, and a guided visit takes in the audience rooms and the shoin apartments. The temple holds roughly ten thousand items, including a text in Shinran's own hand. Sermons are given in the main hall daily at 6:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
Usual hours — confirm with the official site for holidays + seasonal closures.
