A hilltop park on the ruins of Tendo Castle, looking out over the shogi-carving town of Tendo, which produces most of Japan's shogi pieces. It is the stage for the annual Ningen Shogi festival, where costumed performers act as living chess pieces on a giant board. Its cherry trees flower in mid-April, when the festival is held.
