Shizuoka · Chubu
A seven-kilometre curve of black-sand shore on the Miho peninsula backed by some thirty thousand pines, from which Mount Fuji stands directly across Suruga Bay on a clear morning. It is the setting of the Hagoromo legend, in which a celestial maiden leaves her feather robe hanging on one of the pines, and it is inscribed with Fuji on the World Heritage list.
