Nozawa Onsen Village

野沢温泉村

Nagano · Chubu

Open year-round: the village's 13 free public bathhouses and the boiling Ogama hot spring source run every day of the year, with skiing layered on top from late November to early May. Nozawa Onsen is a working hot-spring village of steep lanes and wooden bathhouses that visitors soak through in sequence, following local etiquette. The Nagasaka Gondola also runs a summer green season from mid-July to late October for hiking and mountain views.

Why we picked it

Mainstream travelers often overlook Nozawa Onsen in favor of larger ski resorts, missing out on its authentic charm and local experiences.
