九重"夢"大吊橋

Oita · Kyushu

Japan's highest pedestrian-only suspension bridge — 390m long, 173m above the Naruko River gorge in the Kuju mountain range. Opened Oct 30, 2006; views of Shindo-no-taki and Meoto-no-taki waterfalls and the Kuju range. Especially known for autumn foliage.

Why we picked it

Japan's highest pedestrian suspension bridge at 173 m, strung across a gorge with two waterfalls in view — a singular piece of engineering about 13 km from the Kuju highland.
