Magome-toge Pass
馬籠峠Nagano · Chubu
At 801 meters, Magome-toge is the high point of the Nakasendo trail and marks the Gifu-Nagano prefectural border between Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku. A traditional tateba-chaya (rest teahouse) sits at the summit, serving free hot tea to hikers as it did for Edo-period travelers. From here the trail descends through cedar forest toward the Kiso Valley.

- Free — the Nakasendo trail over Magome Pass (790 m) has no admission. The Ichikokutochi tea house on the route serves free tea. Tsumago parking ¥500/day; the Magome↔Tsumago bus is ¥600.
