The departure point, a roadside station and dolphin center, at Futae Port in Itsuwa-machi, Amakusa City, for boat tours to see a resident pod of roughly 200 wild bottlenose dolphins living in the Hayasaki Strait, about 10 minutes offshore. Multiple licensed operators run 60-minute cruises from the same port with a widely cited 90%+ (peak season 95%+) sighting rate. Typhoon season runs roughly June to October, and a passing storm can cancel ferries, flights and all marine activity across the islands at a day's notice — check the forecast before you rely on this stop.
Usual hours — confirm with the official site for holidays + seasonal closures.
