A shrine said to have been founded roughly 1,900 years ago, enshrining the local deity Takachihosumegami along with other tutelary spirits of the Takachiho region. The grounds hold a pair of intertwined 800-year-old cedar trees (Meoto-sugi) that visitors circle for good fortune, and a kagura hall used for nightly ritual dance performances.
