Nagano · Chubu
Kijimadaira Ski Park climbs the east face above the rice-farming village of Kijimadaira in northern Nagano, a compact local mountain of wide, well-groomed intermediate runs looking out over the Chikuma river valley. It is small, cheap and almost entirely Japanese, run by the village itself rather than a resort operator. Lifts usually run from late December to late March, with dates set by snowfall each season.
