Koishihama Station
恋し浜駅Iwate · Tohoku
恋し浜駅 opened in 1985 as 小石浜駅 (Koishihama, 'small pebble beach') and was renamed in 2009 for a different reading of the same sound — 恋し浜, 'the beach of longing' — to match the branding of the local scallops the town markets as 恋し浜ホタテ. The platform carries a 'Bell of Happiness' and a waiting-room wall hung with scallop-shell ema, real shells visitors write wishes on and leave behind, in place of the wooden plaques used at shrines. The station sits on a low bluff above the Sanriku coast.

How to get there
On the Sanriku Railway Rias Line, in the Ryori/Sanriku-cho area of Ofunato City. The line was rebuilt after the 2011 tsunami and now runs the full coastal route between Kuji and Sakari.
