The former seat of the Date clan, built in 1601 by Date Masamune atop Aobayama hill overlooking Sendai. The main keep and structures were destroyed in the 1945 bombing of Sendai; today only stone ramparts, a reconstructed turret, and open parkland remain, alongside a small museum and an equestrian statue of Masamune illuminated nightly until 10 PM.
Usual hours — confirm with the official site for holidays + seasonal closures.
