Mount Hashikami

Mount Hashikami

階上岳

Aomori · Tohoku

A 739.6-metre mountain on the Aomori–Iwate boundary, included in Sanriku Fukko National Park together with the Hashikami coast. Marked trails climb from the central town trailhead, from Terashita below the Kannon hall, and from the Tashiro district on the west side, and a road runs part of the way up to parking below the summit. The summit gives views over Hachinohe, the Hakkoda range, the Pacific and the Kitakami mountains. Wild azaleas grow in quantity around the eighth station and flower from late May to early June.

Why it's hidden

A national-park summit half an hour from Hachinohe that sees almost no visitors from outside the immediate area.
