Yoron Castle Ruins
与論城跡Kagoshima · Kyushu
An unfinished 15th-century Ryukyuan castle site on Yoron's southern hilltop, where only a coral-stone wall — said to resemble a reclining dragon protecting the island — survives amid the grounds of two small shrines (Jishu and Kotohira). Newly designated a National Historic Site (March 2025), it offers panoramic views over the island and toward Okinawa's Cape Hedo.
