Omote Ginza Ridge Traverse
表銀座縦走路Nagano · Chubu
表銀座縦走路 (the 'Omote Ginza', or 'Front Ginza') is a multi-day ridge traverse in the Northern Alps, named — in the same spirit as Tokyo's Ginza — for how well-trodden it has become relative to other alpine routes. From the Mount Tsubakuro trailhead the route climbs to Tsubakuro's 2,763 m summit, continues along the ridge past Daitenjo-dake (2,922 m) and Nishidake, joins the Higashi-Kama ridge to Yarigatake, and finishes with a descent to Kamikochi — an advanced-level route generally taken over 3-4 days, using a chain of mountain huts run by the Enzanso group. The Daitensho-to-Nishidake and Nishidake-to-Yarigatake legs keep Yarigatake's distinctive spire in view for hours at a stretch.
