Fujita Memorial Garden is a Taisho-era garden of about 21,800 square metres in Hirosaki, laid out on two levels: an upper terrace by the western-style house and a lower garden reached by descending the escarpment, with a pond, a waterfall and views toward Mount Iwaki. It was made in 1919 for Fujita Kenichi, a Hirosaki-born businessman who became the first chairman of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, when he built a second residence in his home town and brought a gardener up from Tokyo to design the grounds. Five of its structures — the western house, the Japanese house, the storehouse, the kabukimon gate and its flanking guardhouses — were registered as National Registered Tangible Cultural Properties in 2003. It sits immediately southwest of Hirosaki Castle park, so it reads as a quieter continuation of a castle visit rather than a separate trip.

Admission

Adults (high-school age and above) ¥320, children (primary and junior-high) ¥100. A ¥520 combination ticket also covers Hirosaki Castle and the Botanical Garden, which is worth it here because the castle park is next door. Groups of 10 or more pay ¥250/¥80. Entry to the Western house alone is free. In the winter season (24 November – 9 April) admission is FREE, but only the upper garden, the Western house and the Takumikan craft hall are open — this is a free, partial-access season, not a closure.
