A golden bronze statue (by sculptor Yasutake Funakoshi, erected May 12, 1968) of legendary Princess Tatsuko on the lake's southwest shore at Katajiri, depicting the maiden who begged the gods for eternal beauty, drank a spring dry, and became a dragon-deity guarding Lake Tazawa's depths.
