Naeba Ski Resort

苗場スキー場

Niigata · Chubu

Naeba is one of Niigata's largest and best-known mountain resorts, linked by the 5.5km Dragondola — Japan's longest gondola — to neighbouring Tashiro and Kagura. Ski season runs mid-December to early April; the resort then reopens for a green season from late April, and hosts Fuji Rock Festival in late July. The Dragondola runs again for autumn foliage from mid-October to early November, floating over a valley of colour.

Why we picked it

Well known domestically for skiing and Fuji Rock, but still far less visited by international travelers than Nagano's major resorts.
