Tsuruma Park is Nagoya's first municipal park, opened in 1909 in Showa Ward directly beside Tsurumai Station. It pairs a Western half of fountain plaza, bandstand and rose beds with a Japanese landscape garden of ponds and a waterfall. The grounds are open at all hours and free to enter, and the Nagoya Green Center inside runs plant exhibitions and gardening advice. Cherry trees through the western half make it one of the city's main hanami grounds in spring.
