青荷温泉

Aomori · Tohoku

A remote 'secret hot spring' deep in a forested valley in the Hakkōda foothills, reachable only by a single mountain road — the entire ryokan is lit by oil lamps at night (no electricity in guest areas), with four separate wood/rock baths fed by source-fed (kakenagashi) simple-spring water.

Why we picked it

A tiny, lamp-lit, off-grid property that most visitors never hear about because it's a genuine detour from the Towada/Hakkoda tourist loop.
