The iconic reconstructed keep of Aizu-Wakamatsu, rebuilt in 1965 on its Edo-period foundations with Japan's only castle roof tiled in red (a design restored in 2011 to match the original Edo appearance). Site of the 1868 Boshin War siege that shaped Aizu's samurai identity.
