Hida-Furukawa Setogawa Canal

The Setogawa Canal runs beside the white-walled kura storehouses of Hida-Furukawa's Ichinomachi district, a clear channel a few paces wide with a lane alongside it. Lattice-fronted sake breweries, a candle shop and craft workshops line the street, making it one of the quietest historic townscapes in the Hida region. Around a thousand koi carp are kept in the channel from spring through autumn; they are moved out for the winter.
