Miyagawa Morning Market is an open-air street market held every morning along the east bank of the Miyagawa river in Takayama, where local farmers and makers sell vegetables, pickles, fruit, miso, and Hida crafts from a row of stalls. It runs from 7:00 AM until noon from April to November and from 8:00 AM in the colder months, and it is held year-round without a closed day. The stalls sit at the northern edge of Takayama's preserved Sanmachi old town, so the market pairs naturally with a walk through the merchant streets. It is counted as one of Japan's three great morning markets, alongside Wajima and Katsuura.
