Oita · Kyushu
The JR Kyudai Main Line terminus for Yufuin, designed in 1990 by Pritzker Prize-winning Oita-born architect Arata Isozaki. The wood-and-black-painted building centers on a 12-meter-high atrium modeled after a chapel, doubles as a free public art hall, and includes a foot bath framing Mount Yufu through its concourse windows.
