A National Historic Site on the Mabechi River terrace where the Nanbu clan held a castle from 1334 until 1627. The main enclosure has been reconstructed from excavation evidence, with a full-size timber main hall, workshops, storehouses and a stable rebuilt on their original footings and furnished inside. The Hachinohe City Museum stands at the entrance to the grounds. It is closed on Mondays and over the New Year period.
