A vermilion-lacquered shrine complex built into a steep hillside in Kashima, founded 1687. One of Japan's 'big three' Inari shrines alongside Fushimi Inari (Kyoto) and Toyokawa Inari (Aichi). The main hall sits 18m above ground via a hillside staircase/elevator.
