Kaeda Valley

Kaeda Valley

加江田渓谷

Miyazaki · Kyushu

A tranquil 8km gorge along the Kaeda River at the foot of Mount Sobiyama, lined with laurel-forest, oddly eroded rocks, and clear-water pools. A mostly flat riverside walking trail from the free Maruno car park passes named spots like Hyotan-buchi pool and Amacha Spring.

Why it's hidden

Despite lying just 30 minutes from Miyazaki city, this lush protected nature-recreation forest sees mostly local hikers and birdwatchers rather than tourists.
