Hachinohe Shuzo has brewed on the Minato waterfront since 1740 and is the maker of Mutsu Hassen and Mutsu Otokoyama — the modern Hassen line is what put it back on drinkers' maps. Brewery visits are by advance reservation only, booked through the brewery's own site; there is no drop-in tour. It stands in Minato-cho, a short walk from Mutsu-Minato Station on the old fishing-port side of the city.
