Orihata Shrine

織幡神社

Fukuoka · Kyushu

A cliff-top shrine on the Kanezaki cape at the tip of the Munakata coast, one of the 'Five Shrines of Munakata' revered alongside Munakata Taisha. Reached by a stone stairway, it overlooks the Genkai and Hibiki seas and is known locally as 'Shikihan-sama', long treated as a place of purification and sea-facing prayer.

Why it's hidden

Tucked above the working fishing port of Kanezaki, this atmospheric sea shrine is far off the standard Munakata Taisha route and mostly known to locals.
