Nakaoyama Pottery Village
陶郷中尾山Nagasaki · Kyushu
A quiet hillside district of family kilns, brick chimney stacks and nostalgic back alleys that has produced Hasami ware since the Edo period, home to the remains of one of the world's largest climbing kilns (noborigama). Small studios and galleries open their doors so visitors can watch potters at work and buy directly.
