Ishikawa · Chubu
べにや無何有 is a 16-room ryokan in Yamashiro Onsen, Kaga, built around the idea of 'mukayu' — a state where, appearing to hold nothing, there is more to appreciate in what is actually there. Every room has its own mountain-garden view and a private open-air spring bath; the building itself, designed by the architect Kiyoshi Sey Takeyama, is worked in plain, natural materials rather than a conventional ryokan style. It is a Relais & Châteaux member and carries a Michelin key.
How to get there
Same gateway as Yamashiro Onsen: the Hokuriku Railroad Kaga Bus Yamanaka/Yamashiro Line from Kaga Onsen Station's south exit, then on foot within the Yamashiro Onsen townscape.
