Kawaramachi Old Town (Gifu)

Three narrow lanes of lattice-fronted merchant houses on the bank below Mount Kinka, once the trading quarter for paper and persimmon tannin and now a run of tea houses, craft shops and an umbrella maker. It is the landing point for the Nagara River cormorant boats on summer nights.
