Higashi Chaya is a preserved teahouse quarter in Kanazawa, its lanes fronted by two-storey wooden ochaya with fine slatted lattice screens across the upper windows. Walking the streets is free and they never close; the individual teahouses open to the public charge roughly ¥500–750 to go inside.
