Shinrakuji is a mountain temple on the lower slopes of Mount Asama in Miyota, founded in 586 as a place to pray for an end to the volcano's eruptions. A three-storey pagoda designated a Nagano prefectural cultural property stands in the grounds beside a cedar said to be over a thousand years old. Onuma, the spring-fed pond below the temple gate, is the setting of the Koga Saburo dragon legend and is listed among Shinshu's notable waters.
