Nawate Street is a pedestrian lane of small shops and food stalls running beside Matsumoto Castle, known as "frog street" for the frog statues dotted along it. The street is free and open at all hours, with shops trading roughly 10:00–17:00, and it is twelve minutes' walk from Matsumoto Station.
