Iwappara Ski Resort
岩原スキー場Niigata · Chubu
Twenty wide, gentle courses on an open shoulder above Yuzawa, with a beginners' apron so large it is where most of the region's ski schools teach. It has its own station on the Joetsu line — Iwappara-Skijo-mae — a few minutes from the base, and the slope faces the valley, so the whole run is in the sun on a clear morning.
