Sunomata Ichiya Castle
墨俣一夜城Gifu · Chubu
Sunomata Ichiya Castle is a 1991 reconstruction on the Nagara river bank at Ogaki, standing where Toyotomi Hideyoshi is said to have thrown up a fort in a single night in 1566. Inside it works as the Ogaki municipal Sunomata history museum, with displays on that campaign and on Hideyoshi's rise. The embankment beside it is planted with several hundred cherry trees along the river.
