Tokugawaen Garden & Tokugawa Art Museum

徳川園・徳川美術館

Aichi · Chubu

A strolling-pond Edo-period garden built on the former estate of the Owari-Tokugawa clan (Nagoya's ruling branch of the shogunal family), with waterfalls, teahouses, and the adjoining museum holding the clan's original samurai armor, swords, and Tale of Genji scrolls.

Why we picked it

Consistently skipped in favor of Nagoya Castle despite being the more intact, less-reconstructed samurai-heritage site in the city; quiet even in cherry-blossom/momiji season.
