Oko no Taki Waterfall

大子の滝

Kagoshima · Kyushu

Oko no Taki drops 88 metres as a double fall onto rock on Yakushima, and it stands close enough to the road that the viewpoint is a short walk from the car park rather than a hike. Viewing is free and there is no gate. Reaching the island means a ferry or flight from Kagoshima, then a car or bus round the coast.

Why we picked it

Many travelers stick to the more popular attractions on Yakushima, overlooking this serene and beautiful waterfall.
