Iwate · Tohoku
A long riverside park on the east bank of the Kitakami River, laid out in 1921, whose main avenue runs two kilometres from the Sango Bridge under about five hundred Somei-Yoshino cherries planted as a continuous tunnel. Around ten thousand trees of some hundred and fifty varieties fill the wider grounds, so the bloom rolls on for weeks rather than days.
