Shibu Onsen's draw is its nine public bathhouses — the nine-bath circuit known as kutō-meguri — rather than its inns: staying guests borrow a key from their ryokan that opens all nine, while day visitors can enter only No. 9, the Ō-yu, with a ticket from the ryokan association office or the Shibu car park. The baths are plain rooms with a changing space and a tub, no showers or soap, set along a stone-paved lane of wooden ryokan in the Yudanaka-Shibu valley.
