Otaru Snow Light Path Festival

Thousands of hand-lit snow candles and glass lanterns line the historic Otaru Canal and the disused Temiyasen rail bed each February, turning the port town's gas-lit warehouses into a soft amber glow. It runs alongside but is distinct in mood and format from Sapporo's larger, sculpture-focused Snow Festival.
