One of Hokkaido's largest fireworks festivals, launched by the Tokachi Mainichi Shimbun since 1953. Around 22,000 shells are choreographed to music and lighting over the Tokachi River riverbed in Obihiro, culminating in the trademark cascade of 'Nishiki Kamuro' fireworks. Free viewing is available along the riverbanks (paid reserved seating also sold).
